Houseplant 102: Build Your Own Custom Soil Mix

Ready to level up your plant parent skills?

If you've taken our Houseplant 101 workshop or already feel confident with the basics of watering, lighting, and plant care Houseplant 102 is the next step in helping your plants thrive for years to come.

In this hands-on workshop, we'll dive into one of the most overlooked aspects of plant care: soil. Different plants have different root systems, moisture needs, and growth habits, which means a one-size-fits-all potting mix isn't always the best solution.

Our plant experts will walk you through the building blocks of a healthy soil mix, including drainage, aeration, moisture retention, and nutrient support. Then you'll create your own custom blend tailored to the types of plants you grow at home.

Choose From Specialized Mixes:

🌿 Tropical Aroids

🌵 Cactus & Succulents

💚 Hoyas

🪴 Snake Plants & Aglaonemas

🌴 Palms

What's Included:

  • Guided instruction from a PlantHouse plant crew
  • Learn the purpose of common soil amendments and ingredients
  • Create your own custom soil mix
  • Take home a bag of your personalized blend
  • Q&A and plant care tips throughout the workshop
  • Upgrade Your Experience

After creating your custom soil mix, you can:

✨ Take your soil blend home for future repotting projects

OR

✨ Purchase a plant and pot in-store (plants are 20% off for workshop attendees) and pot it up during the workshop using your newly created custom soil mix.

Whether you're looking to help a struggling houseplant, better understand what happens below the soil line, or simply want to become a more confident plant parent, this workshop will give you the knowledge and tools to create healthier, happier plants.

No prior gardening experience required, but Houseplant 101 is recommended.
